Big Skills was founded in 2001 as a platform for experimental design, film, and animation projects.

Stephanie Hutin is the founder and director of The New School for Post-Animative Thought (NewSPAT). Her work has been shown internationally, and notably at MoMA, The Wexner Center, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, Anthology Film Archives, and Giant Robot. In 2008, Hutin launched The Echo Park Animation Lab, an experimental animation studio and archive. Hutin currently works as the Director of Production, Intercollegiate Media Studies at Pitzer College as well as serving as CSSSA Animation Faculty at CalArts.

Florencio Zavala is the associate creative director for Studio Number One, managing accounts for The Guggenheim Museum, Dewar's, Google and Saks 5th Ave. He has created artist editions for 2K by Gingham, The Quiet Life and Nieves Publications. Zavala’s work has been exhibited in Chicago, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Paris and New York with solo exhibitions at Red Five (San Francisco) and The Reed Space (New York). In 2006 Zavala was featured in Print magazine's new visual artist review, 20 under 30 and this year he was honored with an ADC Young Guns cube.
